Elkano Txiki was proclaimed the 2025 temple of Russian salad at Gastronomika

The bar of the iconic Getaria restaurant has won a championship for the first time in the province of Gipuzkoa
The new temple of Russian salad is located in Getaria, specifically at Elkano Txiki. Pablo Vicari, José Manuel Barroso and Jonathan Canahuire brought the victory in the 8th San Miguel National Russian Salad Championship to the coastal town, turning the bar of the world-renowned Elkano into a must-visit for lovers of this tapas dish. Until now, turbot and kokotxas were the usual attractions at the Getaria restaurant, but in its more informal space, they now have a Russian salad that is recognised as the best in Spain as of yesterday.
The jury, composed of Miguel Montorio, Alfredo Escobar, Carlos Maribona, Martín Berasategui (chairman), José Carlos Capel, Julia Pérez and Manuel Villanueva, seemed impossible to impress, but the Getaria team managed to do so by beating the other finalists. Pablo Cadavid from La Yerbita in Sobarzo, Cantabria; Saúl Barquilla from Alejandro Serrano in Miranda de Ebro, Burgos; Mariano Luis Rodríguez from Eme de Mariano in Málaga; Antonia Pazos from La Taberna de Egia in San Sebastián; Ricardo Romero from Colósimo in Madrid; Rafaela Pierobón from Hilo in Ruente, Cantabria; Francisco Muñoz Portales from El Parador Playa in Benalmádena, Málaga; and Albert Martínez Bocalandria from Eldelmar Hermanos Torres in Barcelona.
