Pía León
Chef at Kjolle (Lima, Peru)
With her restaurant Kjolle, Pía León draws on her ancestors to showcase Peru's biodiversity through her cuisine.
Trained at the Cordon Bleu in Lima, she continued her education at the Ritz Hotel in New York before landing at Gastón Acurio's emblematic restaurant. Finally, she decided to return to her homeland and joined Central as a kitchen assistant. There she formed a perfect bond with Virgilio Martínez, and together they managed to position the restaurant as one of the best in the world, according to The World's 50 Best Restaurants.
In 2018, she decided to start her own project - Kjolle - and in the same year she was named the best female chef in Latin America. In Kjolle, her most personal project, Pía explores the richness of the Peruvian pantry in a way that reflects the nature and culture of her country.
Her collaboration with Virgilio (also her partner) continues in another project they run together, Mil, in the Peruvian Andes.
