Quique Dacosta Restaurant (Dènia)

Quique Dacosta was born in Jarandilla de la Vera in 1972. Originally from Extremadura and Valencian by adoption, he began his career as a chef in 1986. In 1988, he began working in what is now his restaurant, El Poblet (now known as Resturante Quique Dacosta).

The ambienece that embraced and seduced Quique Dacosta marked the future of many of the creations that are produced every year in Denia. The Mediterranean Sea and the Natural Park of Montgo have been key to his cuisine, due to the inexhaustible richness of the seabed and the particular geographic location.

Today he is recognised throughout the world for his artistic expression in the kitchen. He has become the chef who uses his culture and region as a flag, personifying quality, excellence, innovation and tradition.

In 2012/2013, Restaurante Quique Dacosta was awarded three stars.

In recent years, Restaurante Quique Dacosta has been among the 50 best restaurants in the world, according to the prestigious magazine “The Restaurant”.

It was named Best Restaurant in Europe in the “Opinionated About Dining” rankings by influential analyst Steve Plotnicki two years running: 2012-2013.

In 2013, he was invested Doctor Honoris Causa of Fine Arts by the University Miguel Hernández.

To raise awareness, he published “De Tapas con Quique Dacosta” (Tapas with Quique Dacosata), an editorial work that brought together 80 recipes in a tour of the kitchens of his four restaurants, with a representation of twenty dishes or tapas from each.

His concept of “Evolution and origin” represents a new look at the work of researching and analysing products and the evolution of cooking and its origins, in harmony and complicity with the region and, above all, with an innovative spirit.

Quique also owns the restaurants El Poblet (1*), Vuelve Carolina and Mercatbar in Valencia.
