Casa Gerardo Restaurant, Prendes

October 23, 1979. Great great grandson, great grandson, grandson and son of kitchen professionals, Marcos is currently working hand in hand with and still learning from his father to be the future head of the family line of chefs created in this century-old business (since 1882).

In 1998, Marcos abandoned his journalism studies and joined the family business, studying hotel and catering management at the Hotel and Catering School in Gijon.

Since 1999, he has done stints at Ca’l Isidre, El Celler de Can Roca, Fagollaga, Arzak, Las Rejas, El Poblet… His cuisine is deeply rooted in the land, as a lover of Asturias and its gastronomy, as shown by his first creations and his ongoing collaborations with his father Pedro Morán.

He already has a wealth of international experience as a representative of Spain in Panama during the first festival celebrating Spain in the South American country. In 2004, he received the Giraldo Award for his best cod dish “Bacalao B&N”. He has been a speaker at many national and international conferences. He won the 2008 Cook Award in the Lo Mejor de la Gastronomía Guide. He has been awarded one Michelin star and three Repsol suns.

In 2010, Marcos Morán received the Chef Millesime award.

Pedro and Marcos also have a restaurant in London, the Hispania.
