He holds a degree in international relations. He studied culinary techniques at Beatriz Chomnalez’s School. He began working in the kitchen with his teacher, Beatriz Chomnalez. He was executive chef at Patagonia, in Francis Mallmann’s restaurant. He also worked in kitchens in Sydney, London, France and the United States.

Internationally renowned for its contributions to New Argentine Cuisine, Tegui has put contemporary Argentine cuisine on the map, using ingredients from every corner of the country, always choosing the appropriate technique and precise cooking. Increasingly, Martitegui is giving a new place to many forgotten products that are reborn in the palate of those who visit the place.

Germán Martitegui is a champion of the products from his homeland, which he praises in each of his dishes, products that take centre stage in the pages of his first book, published at the end of 2016.

At the same time, started the Tierras (Lands) Project, a research work on the products, producers and eco regions of Argentina.

Tegui is currently ranked number 10 in the Latin America 50 Best Restaurants and number 49 in The Worlds 50 Best Restaurants.

Germán has also been a judge on Masterchef Argentina and Masterchef Kids.
