Eneko Atxa, with 4 Michelin stars, was born in Amorebieta (Basque Country, Spain). He is the chef and owner of the restaurant Azurmendi***.

The philosophy of Bizkaian chef Eneko Atxa has been clear since he started his career in the kitchen: in addition to making people happy with his cooking, his aim is to cook a better future. Always committed to health, solidarity and sustainability, his three Michelin starred restaurant Azurmendi has just received its second award for the most sustainable restaurant from The World’s 50 Best list. It has also been named Best Restaurant in Europe by OAD (Opinionated About Dining) and Best Restaurant in the World by the luxury magazine Elite Traveller. Eneko Atxa won the National Gastronomy Award in 2015 and was part of European Young Leaders.

His personal vision of Basque cuisine can be tasted in his restaurants Azurmendi and Eneko, both in Larrabetzu (Bizkaia), and in Eneko’s other restaurants in London, Tokyo and Bilbao.

Eneko Atxa began his career in the world of gastronomy at the age of 15 at the School of Hotel Management and Catering in Leioa (Bizkaia), combining it with various stints in restaurants where he studied and was imbued with traditional Basque cuisine.

After this apprenticeship, he took a path towards the most prestigious restaurants and gradually strengthened his own personality and style.

In 2005, after being head chef at several renowned restaurants, he decided to open his own restaurant: Azurmendi.

In 2012, Azurmendi received 3 Michelin stars, marking a historic milestone by becoming the first and only establishment in Bizkaia to achieve this distinction. At the age of 35, this recognition also made Eneko Atxa one of the youngest chefs in Spain to receive three stars.
