Mina restaurant (Bilbao)

In his constant quest for learning after finishing his studies, Álvaro moved to Barcelona, where he trained in famous restaurants like EspaiSucre, and worked under Jordi Butrón, and Jean-Luc Figueras, that has one Michelin star.

He later worked for Manolo de la Osa as head chef at Las Rejas, which has also been awarded a Michelin star.

He continued his training by specialising in pastry making with Paco Torreblanca, one of the best pastry chefs in the world.

In 2006 he opened Mina, his own restaurant, where he has given free rein to his creativity, passion and vision of gastronomy.

He won the ¨Breakthrough Chef  2010¨ prize from the ¨Lo Mejor de la Gastronomía 2010¨ guide and “Chef Millesime” in 2011, and in 2012 he received a Michelin star in the 2013-2014 guide and his second Sun in the 2016 Repsol Guide, the year in which he also received the National Atlantic Flavours award.
