With an exhibition area of 5,000 m2, the San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country fair will once again become the sector’s most important meeting point and business venue.

With 80% now reserved, the finishing touches are being put to the layout of the exhibition space at the top gastronomic fair in the north of the country, the San Sebastian Gastronomika – Euskadi Basque Country fair, to once again become the focal point of the sector’s commercial interest over the three days of the congress. From October 6 to 9, San Sebastian will once again be the gastronomy capital of the world, playing host to San Sebastian Gastronomika 2019, where leading brands in the food, gastronomy, hotel and catering sectors will be exhibiting.

The exhibition space is what centralises the day-to-day running of the congress, where the best brands in the sector are given space to present new products and develop links with the sector. With a stable number of around 170, so that everyone can have their market share, leading companies in Iberian products, dairy products, wine, preserves, coffee, beer, oil or kitchen complements all come together, spread over a new layout of 5,000 m2 of space, which will be open from 10 am to 8 pm.

In previous years, close to 15,000 professionals visited the San Sebastian Gastronomika fair, making it an unmissable meeting point and business event. In 2019, after celebrating the 20th anniversary of the congress last year, the organisation hopes to repeat the figures and enhance the quality of the experience. In addition, a number of activities are scheduled to take place at the fair, from which both companies and visitors can benefit.

1st National Congress of Pintxos, Tapas and Bars

Among tastings, activities and product presentations, some of the notable activities that will take place at the congress will be the 1st National Congress of Pintxos, Tapas and Bars sponsored by Keler, with up to 10 themed presentations by some of the best restaurateurs in the country, and the 2nd National Potato Salad Championship, a competition that was won at its first edition by La Barra de Carles Abellán* (Barcelona).

Gastronomika 2019 travels with Elkano on the 500th anniversary of his circumnavigation of the world

Between October 6 and 9, 2019, San Sebastian Gastronomika-Euskadi Basque Country will hold its 21st edition, commemorating the 500th anniversary of Juan Sebastián Elkano’s route when he circumnavigated the world for the first time. To this end, Gastronomika 2019 will also start with Elkano, in this case the Elkano Restaurant run by Aitor Arregui in Getaria, and then go down to Andalusia and set sail in search of flavours following the original route: the Canary Islands, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, the Philippines, Indonesia, before returning to the Basque Country.

The gastronomic tour will also feature illustrious guests from other parts of the world, as well as the finest constellation of Spanish chefs.
